A 37-year-old sand miner, Dickson Niwamanya, has been buried alive, in a tragic incident at a mining site along the Kabale-Katuna road.

It was a normal day for Dickson Niwamanya, a sand miner in the Bukaranga cell of Kabale, as he went about his work in the scorching sun. Little did he know that it would be his last day on earth. Tragedy struck when the soil collapsed suddenly, burying him alive at the mining site.

According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi police spokesperson, the collapse happened swiftly and without warning, covering Niwamanya completely and killing him instantly. The community was left in shock and mourning at the sudden loss of a hardworking man who was just trying to make a living.
